The U.S. assassinated Al-Qaeda chief Ayman Al-Zawahiri in a drone strike in Kabul on Saturday. The mastermind of global jihad was killed in a ‘planned and silent’ CIA operation. He was the second on the U.S. hit list after Osama Bin Laden. Zawahiri was born in Egypt’s capital Cairo and grew up to be an eye surgeon. He, in fact, served three years as a surgeon in the Egyptian Army before joining Osama Bin Laden and helping him strategise the 9/11 attacks.
