Afghanistan’s Taliban condemned the US drone strike that killed al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul over the weekend but said they still had no information about the intended target.
“The government and the leadership were not aware of what was being claimed, nor any trace there. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) is committed to the Doha Agreement,” said the Taliban government.
The investigation is underway to find out about the veracity of the claim, said the Taliban and added, “The leadership is in constant meeting in this regard. The findings will be shared with all”.
